Best known for its line of RAZR mobile phones, Motorola once held the number 2 slot in the world for the most phones sold. However those days have now sadly gone; mainly due to the companies continued reliance on one product line which became outdated.
The name Motorola was made up by the founders of the company, and used as the name for a line of products; however the name became so well known that the original name of Galvin Manufacturing Corporation was dropped in favour of it.
