Benefon Mobile Phones

Another Finnish based mobile telecommunications provider, Benefon was founded in 1988. They originally specialised in the incorporation of GPS systems into mobile devices.

Benefon appears to have been beaten to the punch by it’s former partner Nokia, who started to release it’s GSM handsets to the global market in 1996. The Benefon Gamma, Benefon’s first GSM enabled phone was eventually released in 1997.
